A lot of people have doubted my girlfriend and I’s relationship.  We have thus far had an excellent relationship and resolved interpersonal conflicts like grown ups.  This has irritated the doubters.  It seems the doubters are trying to break us up just to be able to get the satisfaction of saying I told you so.

A legal immigrant, working hard and about to move up gets shot for listening to the gunman’s instruction.  I would rather go down fighting.  My carry gun of choice, a .40 SW 99, gives me 10 chances to turn the tables.  The OC spray I use on Guam due to lack of concealed carry permission on Guam gives me about fifteen seconds worth of escape or evasion.  My prayers are with his family.  Afterthought, why is it so often the people that are trying to do the right thing the ones that get hurt.  Excerpt below.  Emphasis mine.

Gurpreet Singh was working his final shift as a 7-Eleven clerk, before moving on next week to full-time job at a hospital, when he was gunned down during a robbery. Police say they can’t explain why Singh, 35, was shot in the abdomen early Wednesday even after complying with the gunman’s instructions to hand over his register’s cash in a bag. “He didn’t put up a struggle at all,” said homicide Detective Jeff Cowdrey. “He did what he was supposed to do and got shot for it.”

safety first

We had to suffer through a safety stand down today in regard to lock out/tag out, electrical safety, and conduct ashore.

In other news, I am heading to a new CG in SD soon.  Exact dates obscured for OPSEC purposes.

St. Patt’s day was today on Guam.  Since food doesn’t have a face, I used one of their basic kadu recipes and chopped and swapped where necessary to add corn beef, cabbage and taters.  I also drank a few cans of Murphy’s Irish stout and some whiskey.  Everybody’s Irish on St. Patty’s Day.

Things are getting pretty good with my girlfriend and I.  Her son likes running around and acting like me.  Talk about a reality check.  It is a huge responsibility.  According to her Mom, Pocket Monkey, as I shall refer to him in this blog, is learning a lot of practical stuff from me.

Of blankets and boys

I was given a Navy throw as a gift some years ago.  I enjoyed the practicality of it.  It is one of very few things that I carry with me to every duty station.  My soon to be stepson likes that blanket because it is fuzzy and warm.  He has been feverish for a couple of days.  This evening, while watching cartoons, he specifically requested that particular blanket.  He went to sleep swaddled in that very blanket.  Thank you Ms. Harris nee Lopez.

random e-mail

Received in an e-mail from my girlfriend.  I like it, especially the warrior part.

People with blue eyes last the longest in relationships. They are kind, pretty or handsome, very good kissers and are really hot. They always fall in love with their closest friends and never understand why. They are very funny, outgoing and don’t care what people think or say. They love to party. They are very satisfying and love to please. Are straight up WARRIORS((aka wolves)) when they need to be.They are bad to the bone.
