The 20 most important rules in my life…

The following sum up the rules I strive to live by from day to day.  Bonus cool points if you can guess the sources.

  1. You shall have no other Gods but me.
  2. You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it.
  3. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
  4. You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy.
  5. Respect your father and mother.
  6. You shall not murder.
  7. You shall not commit adultery.
  8. You shall not steal.
  9. You shall not give false witness against your neighbor.
  10. You shall not be envious of your neighbour’s goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbour.
  11. Freedom of speech, press, religion, and petition no regulation prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
  12. The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
  13. Conditions for quartering of soldiers.
  14. Rights against unlawful search and seizure.
  15. Provisions concerning prosecution.
  16. Right to a proper and speedy trial.
  17. Trial by jury.
  18. No cruel and unusual punishment.
  19. Rights of the people.
  20. Rights of the states.

To me, these are twenty rules worth shedding blood or losing life for.  Some, such as cruel and unusual punishment,  leave some room for interpretation.  I think that rapists should be castrated, after a proper and speedy trial.  I agree to a certain extent, with chopping off a thief’s hand.  The punishment shall fit the crime.
